Owner, income and method behind valenks, beginning with one fact: our publisher operates the resort in row one.

The company behind valenks
MGM National Harbor, LLC of 101 MGM National Avenue, Oxon Hill, MD 20745 publishes valenks. The same company operates MGM National Harbor, the riverfront resort in row one. Mail for the editors goes to contact@valenks.com.
A compact editorial desk drafts and refreshes the ten entries. Apart from the publisher's resort, no property was shown its text in advance or asked to sign it off.
Row one is our own house
MGM National Harbor heads valenks purely because the publisher operates it. The editors never measured it against rows two to ten, and valenks does not pretend the top place was won. Every booking made there brings revenue straight to the owner, which is also the publisher.
Where valenks money comes from
Hotel buttons may carry referral codes. When a reader books after following one, valenks can be paid a commission, and the reader's rate stays as it was. That referral income, plus the publisher's stake in its own resort, keeps valenks running. The affiliate page sets it all out.
Methodology and selection criteria
Rows two to ten come from reading each property's official site and published house rules alongside tourism-board and state-park information. Four questions decide the order:
- The room: how it feels to wake up there, what the window shows, and whether room types are explained without guesswork.
- The downtime: spa, pools, restaurants and any concert hall a guest can use.
- The neighbourhood: what is worth a few hours nearby and how hard the drive is.
- The small print: how quickly a reader can find resort fees, card holds and age rules.
Anything valenks cannot pin down stays out: no room tallies, rates, build dates or prizes unless we are certain, and no marks or grades whatsoever. The casino side of a property has no weight in the order and is not described.
Who writes and what they read
The valenks editors cover leisure trips around the Chesapeake, the Delaware Valley, the Appalachian valleys and the Ohio River country, and they go to primary sources first. Unconfirmed facts are flagged in the row itself, with a nudge to ring the property.
Corrections at valenks
Send the page link and the faulty detail to contact@valenks.com. An editor checks it against the property's own material, rewrites the line if it was wrong and moves the revision date on. Properties are welcome to flag factual slips; none can buy a higher row.
